2012 Kickoff Meeting and Awards Pot Luck

Plan to join us on Saturday, January 7, at noon at the Christiansburg Library for our pot luck lunch and awards presentation where the 2011 plaques will be handed out to all 2011 members. Starting at 1 pm will be an Unmounted Meeting on conformation taught by Erin S., and a Sponsor's Meeting for all 2012 club sponsors. We will be planning our year and looking at our calendar, so come with your goals and plans for the year, and be ready to mark your calendars with the RVPC important dates (the Spring Frolic, the Dressage Rally, the Summer Show, the D Rally, and possibly a Standards & Ratings Clinic). See you then!

Congratulations to Stephanie!

Gabe has been returned to his owner (and then sold on to a new owner), and Steph has a new horse to lease while she rehabs Bouncer: Mistletoe! Check out Steph's Facebook and YouTube pages for pics and videos of her new mount! We are thrilled that she's got something to play with while she brings Bouncer back to fitness, and we look forward to meeting Mistletoe at upcoming mounted meetings.

Fall Mini-Camp with Jessie Hargrave: September 10 - 11

Join your fellow club members at Margaux and Susan's lovely farm in Floyd for a 2-day camp taught by Jessie and Margaux! Jessie is an A graduate with tons of pony club and USEA teaching experience. Participate in flat, jumping, cross country, and games, as well as unmounted instruction and help with your own teaching. There will be pond swimming if it's warm enough, trail rides if there's time, and plenty of delicious food and good times! Consider arriving on Friday evening in time to go into downtown Floyd for the renowned Floyd Jamboree; riding and learning will be Saturday and Sunday. Bring a sleeping bag and all the stuff you and your horse or pony need for two days away from home. Contact Susan for details and to sign up: lancove@swva.net. See you there!

Member pictured in this week's Chronicle of the Horse!

There is a picture of RVPC member Anna at the USPC Championships in KY in July on page 63 of this week's Chronicle. She and fellow RVPC member Laurel played on a winning Games team that also included members from the Virginia region. See if this link works to see the photo and article: click here.

Rumor Has It...

A little bird has indicated that RVPC will be hosting a Games practice day for our region this fall. And that we're going to work on trying to hold a regional qualifying Games Rally next spring! Watch this space for more details as this information gets confirmed...

D Rally - A Success!

RVPC and Sinking Creek PC recently co-hosted the regional D Rally at Green Hill Park. We had a great time putting this rally on and look forward to doing it again next year. We had 5 teams representing members from 6 clubs in the Old Dominion Region, with one family coming from as far as Suffolk! Riders competed in dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country jumping, and all riders were D-rated. Each team had a C adviser to help the competitors, many of whom had never participated in a riding rally before. Most of the rally official positions were filled by current pony club members rated C and up. The weather cooperated, and a great time was had by all! Click here for the results. Thanks to all our participants and parents and volunteers for making this rally such a success!
